From animal care, to gardening, to carpentry… Depden Care Farm offers a unique opportunity to build skills and discover new interests through our wide range of seasonal activities.
We offer Social Care Placements for Farm Helpers every weekday. Placements are for adults with disabilities, learning difficulties, acquired brain issues or long-term physical and mental health needs.
How to join us
Formal referrals to our service must come via social services, NHS CHT or if the person is in full time education via their school or college.
If you are already in receipt of adult social care support and want to change your support plan to enable you to attend Depden Care Farm, the best time to do this is at your annual review. If you have not had one in the past year, you can request one.
If you or your young person is leaving (or about to leave) full-time education and they have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are likely to need similar support in the future, you will be referred to Adult Social Care for an eligibility assessment to identify their needs and the support that they may require from Social Care in adulthood. This may happen automatically as part of the Persons Moving into Adult Plan. If this hasn’t happened, you can request an assessment from Adult Social Care.

More help and advice can be provided by Suffolk SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service). This is a confidential and impartial information, advice and support service on issues related to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). It is free and easy to access.
It is helpful to go to those assessments with a clear idea of the person’s needs, wants and priorities. As part of that process you are welcome to come and have a look around Depden Care Farm and see if it feels right for you. Contact us here to arrange a visit.
