The Veg Shed

Our Veg Shed sells seasonal fruit and vegetables grown on the farm and harvested by our Farm Helpers.

Produce gets topped up regularly on Friday mornings ready for the fish van visit, and occasionally during the week as time allows.

From time to time we also have a range of meats for sale from the freezer, watch out for the posters at the Veg Shed and ask a member of staff if you would like to make a purchase.

Fruit

Strawberries, raspberries, currants, blackberries, loganberries, plums, greengages, damsons, pears, quince, medlars – and lots and lots of apples (all local or heritage varieties from our orchard).

Vegetables

Lettuces, tomatoes, potatoes, courgettes, herbs, peas, beans, aubergines, sweetcorn, cabbages, spinach, parsnips, carrots, artichokes, broccoli, asparagus, chillies, peppers, herbs – all grown by our farmhelpers in our veggie garden and polytunnels.

Eggs

We have a free range flock of rare breed poultry, including our local Suffolk breed, Ixworth hens, as well as Silver Appleyard duck eggs (another Suffolk breed) and occasional goose eggs.

Meat

We also have  lamb and pork boxes from the freezer as well as sausages and burgers from our own Llanwenog sheep and Kune Kune pigs, all butchered by Eric’s in Bury St Edmunds.

Preserves

Jams and chutneys made from our own produce are occasionally available plus the renowned Depden marmalade every February (no we don’t grow the oranges ourselves – we just love marmalade!)

Young’s Fish Van

H T Young’s Fish van visits on Friday afternoons 2pm-4pm selling fresh Lowestoft fish.

After many years selling fish at Depden and elsewhere, Adam Turner has sold the business on and we are delighted to welcome Helen to Depden with the same high quality of fresh catch every week.
