I joined Millennium Farm Trust as a volunteer in 2009 working in the office and supporting the then director. In 2012 I became a Trustee, several event-filled years later, I stepped down from that role to become Director of Depden Care Farm in 2015.
Meanwhile, I left the Senior Civil Service in 2011 to pursue a life outside on our smallholding, first with our farm shop and smallholding training company, which closed in 2017 to enable me to concentrate full time on Depden Care Farm.
Together with an amazing staff team and volunteer trustees we have seen the service grow from strength to strength. I learn something new almost every day here, but my most powerful learning point is that I enjoy growing people much more than growing carrots. I give thanks for that every day.
